It was inside a bowling alley in Sydney that Burgess first met iconic radio broadcaster John Legal guidelines in 1959. The radio legend overheard Burgess’ voice and knew immediately he had a future in radio.

The pair grew to become good mates and Burgess would go into radio station 2GB to observe John Legal guidelines do his radio present. The budding broadcaster then went on to rub shoulders with extra radio heavyweights, together with Tony McLaren.
